stretching - why you should and when you shouldn't
Stretching is one of the most easy and accessible things that we can do for our bodies - you can literally stretch anywhere! So many people neglect this very important part of training. Just a few things that stretching does for us...
- Basically, it improves flexibility. Flexibility is defined as the range of motion available. Who doesn't want more range of motion!?!?
- Reduces the chance of injury - both in training or playing sports and day to day activities.
- It reduces soreness in muscles by increasing the blood supply to the muscles
Avoid stretching when muscles are cold. It's important to do a short 3-5 minute warm up to get the blood flowing prior to stretching to avoid injury!
