stretching - why you should and when you shouldn't

Stretching is one of the most easy and accessible things that we can do for our bodies - you can literally stretch anywhere! So many people neglect this very important part of training. Just a few things that stretching does for us...

  1. Basically, it improves flexibility. Flexibility is defined as the range of motion available. Who doesn't want more range of motion!?!?
  2. Reduces the chance of injury - both in training or playing sports and day to day activities.
  3. It reduces soreness in muscles by increasing the blood supply to the muscles

Avoid stretching when muscles are cold. It's important to do a short 3-5 minute warm up to get the blood flowing prior to stretching to avoid injury!
