Carrie Russo Workshop
I had the honor of hosting my dear friend, Carrie Russo, at my studio for a workshop on the rhythm and dynamics of the Classical Mat. Carrie is an international Pilates instructor who has been teaching since 2005 and has had many clients from celebrities, to elite athletes, to regular folks. All body types, all walks of life. Carrie has worked with both men and women with chronic back pain, chronic knee pain, shoulder pain - and over time has witnessed her clients become pain free. She has taught numerous women through their pregnancies and they come back thanking her for it! She really knows her stuff, is well versed in the Classical method, the way Joseph Pilates intended it to be and she is hilarious! The workshop started out with a classical Mat workout that had all participants sweating, working hard and having fun. Next, Carrie went through and broke down each exercise. Her attention to detail and the way she describes each exercise, both in how to perform it and how to instruct it, had light bulbs going off for everyone the entire workshop. One of the many things I love about how Carrie instructs is that she will continue to reword things until the person understands. What verbally makes sense to one person may not make sense to the next. Carrie really works to find each person's "language" which helps them delve deeper into the method and into their own body.
I cannot wait to get Carrie back on the East Coast for another string of workshops soon! If you missed the chance to work with her this time, she'll be back, and you'll want to make sure you don't miss her again!
Until she's back on the east coast, you can find her on instagram ( @russopilates ) and on her website www.russopilates.com
